Slow Cooker Country Style Ribs

I was a little hesitant at first to make these because I've never had country style ribs before. I've only ever had grilled baby backs. So maybe I am a "rib snob" HA.  I do know quite a few people who have made country style in their crock pots and loved them so I decided to give these ribs a try. They were  really good and had a great flavor. My husband really enjoyed them too. Today was a prefect day to make them since our weekends are normally pretty busy and I like meals that I can prep in the morning and let the slow cooker do the rest!

Slow Cooker Country Style Ribs

3 to 4 pounds boneless pork country-style ribs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 large onion, cut into chunks
1/2 cup apple juice
1 bottle (16 to 18 ounces) barbecue sauce, about 1 1/2 cups

Lightly grease the inside of a 5 to 6-quart slow cooker. Put the onions in the bottom of the slow cooker, then place pork on top. Sprinkle the pork with salt and pepper, brown sugar, and minced garlic; turn the pork ribs to coat all pieces. Pour apple juice evenly over the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 9 hours. Drain liquids from the pork. Pour barbecue sauce over the pork and stir slightly to distribute the sauce. Cover and cook on low for 1 hour longer. Enjoy!

  2. I have never made ribs. Your crock pot recipe would be a good starting point. It also jogged my memory about the chicken that I plan on putting in the crock pot soon. Thank you for that. We almost wouldn't have dinner tonight, since I am reading blogs, and not thinking.

  5. I love using the country style ribs in my slow cooker! I use it alot of times when I want to do pulled pork too! This recipe sounds delicious!! Pinning :)
